LIUGONG Delivers First Autonomous Electric Loader in Anhui

Recently, LIUGONG, in cooperation with a provincial enterprise in Anhui, successfully launched the province’s first autonomous electric wheel loader demonstration project. This milestone responds actively to China’s national strategies of intelligent manufacturing and carbon neutrality.

Addressing industry challenges in asphalt plant feeding operations—such as high temperature, heavy dust, low labor efficiency, safety risks, and fuel pollution—the LIUGONG autonomous electric wheel loader has completely redefined the traditional feeding model.

The project features the LIUGONG 856HE MAX, which not only inherits the core strengths of LIUGONG’s electric equipment but also integrates advanced technologies. Equipped with an automotive-grade high-performance domain controller and a multi-sensor fusion perception system, it provides 360° real-time monitoring and supports seamless “manual-autonomous” mode switching. With laser SLAM combined with inertial navigation for high-precision positioning and AI-powered dynamic obstacle avoidance algorithms, the machine achieves autonomous path planning and fully unmanned operation even in complex scenarios.

The 856HE MAX embodies LIUGONG’s cutting-edge control technologies, capable of autonomous loading, transporting, and feeding tasks across the full work cycle. It enables continuous unmanned operations in industrial settings such as asphalt plants, eliminating safety risks while delivering zero emissions.

In this project, the autonomous electric wheel loader is expected to significantly reduce annual operating costs. For example, at an asphalt plant with an annual capacity of 500,000 m³, LIUGONG’s unmanned system can precisely complete automatic feeding for 11 bins and 8 hoppers. The intelligent dispatching system ensures accurate material proportioning, efficient switching between production tasks, and enhanced product quality.

Since launching its first autonomous fuel-powered loader (856H) in 2021, LIUGONG has continued to lead innovation, delivering its first fully electric autonomous loader in 2023 and its first autonomous electric mining loader in 2025.
