Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge Opens to Traffic
The Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge, known as the “First Bridge at the East Gate of Wuhan,” has officially opened to traffic. As a key expressway project included in the Hubei Province transportation development plan, the bridge significantly improves regional connectivity. The travel time between Xinzhou in Wuhan and Huarong in Ezhou has been reduced from about 90 minutes to just 5 minutes, while also linking major transportation hubs such as Yangluo Port and Huahu Airport.

During the road construction phase of the project, intelligent road construction equipment from XCMG played a crucial role in overcoming challenges such as high temperatures, wide paving width, and strict precision requirements on the bridge surface. The innovative construction solutions attracted global attention and were highlighted by major media outlets, including Xinhua News Agency and People’s Daily.

On July 1, 2025, at the Gaojiadun section of the Xin’gang Expressway project, an intelligent construction fleet composed of one paver and seven autonomous rollers officially began paving the 33.61 km road section. The equipment system integrates BeiDou high-precision positioning and inertial navigation technology, enabling precise path control on a 30-meter-wide bridge deck with an error margin within 5 millimeters.

Through the coordinated operation of eight intelligent machines, the construction efficiency increased by approximately 25 percent compared with traditional methods. The project demonstrates the strength of XCMG’s smart construction technology and highlights China’s growing capabilities in intelligent infrastructure development.
